Ahmad Hamzawi is the head of new business development at Google for the Middle East/North Africa, Turkey and Central Asia. He is responsible for growing the company through strategic partnerships, new business and product initiatives, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurism. Previous to this role, he held various engineering roles for the past 17 years and most recently, he spent 5 years in Engineering management roles at Google and was leading engineering teams focused on building and adapting products for the Arab world as Head of Engineering for Middle East & Africa.
Ahmad joined Google in 2006 from KNOVA Software in Silicon Valley where he was Senior Director of Engineering. At KNOVA, he led the onshore and offshore engineering development and operations of an award-winning enterprise CRM search and knowledge management product suite. Previously, he managed engineering teams at early stage startup companies as well as large enterprise companies such as Autodesk and Gateway. He has also taught courses in the Department of Computer Science at the University of San Francisco. He holds a Bachelors in Computer Science from Carleton University in Canada and a Masters degrees in Computer Science from the University of San Francisco.
